name description
StoneA single stone from the Mahjong game, with some image on the white (usually bone) side.
Ruleset Set of rules, according to which Mahjong is played. Example: Classic Mahjong, Hong Kong rules, Internation rules, etc.
Rule
A single rule within a ruleset, e.g. a rule that tells how many point is acquired by scoring a pung.
Prevalent wind Also indicates current_round. Prevalent wind normally changes when the first player becomes east again.
Seat wind The current wind for a player. In some circumstances, depending on rules, the winds can turn to the next player, after a wall has ended.
Wall
By some people called round or game. A wall is a single time of play, where one person acquired mahjong.
Round
A round is at least 4 walls, where each player has played with every one of the four winds. If the player gets the same wind as his first wind again, one round has been played.
Game
A complete mahjong game of 4 rounds
Mahjong score
Score that can only be obtained by the player that completed Mahjong
score
Points scored by any player
accumulated score
Score of one wall (hand), after calculating what each player has to give to each other.
Total score
Accumulated score over all rounds and walls.
Game score
Score of a complete game (stored for statistics)
Special Hand
Sometimes called Limit. A specific combination of tiles, that scores extra points. Other scores are added to this. Examples: Thirteen Orphans, Nine Gates or All Green.
Limit
A special hand (specific combination), that only scores the indicated points. Other scores for this hand are not calculated anymore.
Penalty type
Type of penalty given after not following the rules. Mostly this means that the player has to pay something, may not acquire Mahjong, or may have no points.
